Internship and Living Abroad Program in England |
The Internship and Living Abroad Program in England,
or ILAP England, is a six week program which is
concurrent with the first summer session at Texas
A&M University. Based in London, participants live with host families
and are matched with internships related to
their majors or career interests.
Past participants
have been very pleased with their job placements in a variety of
fields. Past participants have often interned with Price Waterhouse
Coopers in a variety of jobs. Others have majored in
education (placed as an elementary teacher
assistant), pre-med (observing at a hospital
oncology ward), and international studies
(working as a clerk with a London law firm). The latter was
the case of Joey Anderson, a 1995 participant. Here is how he
described his work experience:
"The benefits I received from
this internship program were twofold. First of all, I was
given the opportunity to see if this [law] was a field that
I really wanted to get into. Second, I obtained valuable
work experience which looks very good on any resume."
The two weekend group excursions for ILAP England
will be to York and Bath.
