Belize
The mission of the International Service Program in Belize is to build student servant-leaders with an understanding and respect of other cultures. This corresponds to the mission statements of the L.T. Jordan Institute and the Memorial Student Center of Texas A&M to further both student development and intercultural awareness. Students traveling to Belize will live with host families and be fully immersed in the country’s rich culture and social life.
Five graduate students will travel to Placencia or Punta Gorda, Belize, and work for a non-profit organization to assess and assist with an environmental project in the region. The trip will last 6 weeks and be involved in a local service project. Participants will also give a presentation of their trip to a high school in Bryan/College Station after they return to serve as an inspiration for future students. Approximate dates of the program are from mid-May to mid-July.
