Assuming Empire: Scottish Imperial Offifficials and Jacobite Conspiracy during the American Revolution
Tanner Ogle is a third year PhD student in the Department of History at Texas A&M. While conducting his archival research at repositories in Edinburgh, Scone, and the Isle of Bute, Tanner also visited cultural sites related to the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 and properties of the Scots he is researching.

On Fantasy and Fighting Bulls
Kristian Cantens is a doctoral student in Philosophy at Texas A&M. He traveled to Spain to examine present day controversies surrounding bullfighting; by examining the various images, metaphors, and myths that Spaniards utilize in orienting themselves to this rich tradition he hopes to understand why there are disparate views on a common cultural activity.

Learning About the Beauty of Colombia, and the Insect Pests!
Jaclyn Martin is a PhD candidate in Texas A&M’s Department of Entomology. She traveled to the International Center for Tropical Agriculture in Cali, Colombia to study insect pests in rice agriculture, specifically the rice delphacid. This insect is native to Latin America and is a planthopper that feeds on rice and transmits a virus to rice plants.
