Greece Leadership Program
The Greece Leadership Program sends about ten sophomores to
Greece two weeks each summer. Here students enhance their leadership
talents and skills and broaden their multi-cultural and international
perspectives. This interdisciplinary program provides students an
opportunity to experience Greece's contemporary and historical culture,
gain valuable friendships, develop communication skills, gain confidence,
and be further encouraged to study, research, or intern abroad. The
activities, leadership seminars, and excursions will focus on such themes
as Democracy, Philosophy, Literature, History, Architecture, and current
cultural events.
Location
Students will reside at a central location in Greece where lectures and
seminars will take place. Upon their arrival in Greece the students
will spend the first three days of the program exploring historic and
beautiful Athens. The students and staff will fly into and out of
Athens, Greece for safety and convenience reasons.
Excursions
Excursion opportunities for the group will occur almost daily.
After arriving Greece and touring Athens, participants travel on the first
of several trips to various places in Greece. The excursions usually
include visits to Delphi, Thessaloniki, Corinth, Thermopylae, Mt. Olympus,
and other Greek cities in order to provide the students with a
broad view of the country.
Various leadership lectures and seminars will be the focus of the program,
and excursions will serve to enforce the program's central
themes. While we want participants to see as much as possible, we may
reconsider these trips as necessary to ensure focus on the central goals of
this leadership development opportunity.
