Greek Flag Greece Leadership Program

* The Greece Leadership Program sends about ten sophomores to Greece two weeks each summer.  Here students enhance their leadership At the Rion Anterrion Bridge in Patras, Greece talents and skills and broaden their multi-cultural and international perspectives.  This interdisciplinary program provides students an opportunity to experience Greece's contemporary and historical culture, gain valuable friendships, develop communication skills, gain confidence, and be further encouraged to study, research, or intern abroad.  The activities, leadership seminars, and excursions will focus on such themes as Democracy, Philosophy, Literature, History, Architecture, and current cultural events.

Location

* Students will reside at a central location in Greece where lectures and seminars will take place.  Upon their arrival in Greece the students will spend the first three days of the program exploring historic and beautiful Athens.  The students and staff will fly into and out of Athens, Greece for safety and convenience reasons.

Excursions

Night befalls Archovia, Greece near Delphi * Excursion opportunities for the group will occur almost daily.  After arriving Greece and touring Athens, participants travel on the first of several trips to various places in Greece.  The excursions usually include visits to Delphi, Thessaloniki, Corinth, Thermopylae, Mt. Olympus, and other Greek cities in order to provide the students with a broad view of the country.

* Various leadership lectures and seminars will be the focus of the program, and excursions will serve to enforce the program's central themes.  While we want participants to see as much as possible, we may reconsider these trips as necessary to ensure focus on the central goals of this leadership development opportunity.

Temple of Zeus in Athens, Greece * All eligible students are encouraged to apply.  We want prospective participants to adjust, accept culture differences, and immerse themselves in the culture.  Please realize that this program is not a vacation; students develop leadership skills through, and are encouraged to fulfill complete all activities in a professional manner; All participants are representatives of Texas A&M University and the United States and are to conduct themselves accordingly.  Those who wish to receive academic credit must make separate arrangements with their academic department.  Each prospective participant must take the initiative and make the most of this opportunity.
