About the Jordan Institute

Mission Statement the Jordan Institute logo

The Memorial Student Center L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness is a student and staff run organization dedicated to providing Texas A&M University and the surrounding community with international exposure through programming and travel abroad opportunities.

Brief History

* The MSC L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness has become a leader in providing students with opportunities for learning about the world in which we live.  The Jordan Institute first opened its doors in December 1986 through a generous endowment from Mrs. Jessie Wright Jordan in the name of her late husband, Leland Thomas Jordan.  Having lived abroad most of their lives, they knew the importance of traveling abroad and wanted to give Texas A&M students the opportunity to experience it themselves.  Since its inception in 1986, the MSC L.T. Jordan Institute has grown to bring many innovative and creative programs to Texas A&M University.

Subcommittees

The MSC L.T. Jordan Institute for International Awareness is committee of the MSC Student Council, with all its general committee members actively serving on at least one subcommittee.  Each of our programs is produced by one of these subcommittees.  In addition to these programming committees, several internal subcommitees exist to support the Jordan Institute:

* Development Committee
The Development Committee maintains current and former member contact information and produces our newsletter.  It is also responsible for fundraising and assisting the creation of new programs, as well as other tasks.
* Public Relations and Marketing Committee
The Public Relations (PR) Committee is responsible for maintaining a healthy image with the general public and advertising.
* Webmaster
This is not a committee but rather one or two people with the skills to maintain our presence on the Internet.
